Unfortunately, the ‘treat’ didn’t take long for my dog to finish off. I picked up something that looked hearty and at the checkout i asked if it would take a while for a dog to get through it. So it took a while to find something that I thought would last.
They carry a lot of toys and other pet accessories as well as some pets themselves (birds and fish, etc.) I also purchased some ‘bones’ (with the intent of keeping my dog busy for while.) I don’t think they carry rawhide because it isn’t good for your animal. Of course they had the IAM’s product my dog prefers (craves). Granted there were a few offbeat brands but really a poor representation of soda, and the prices aren’t overly competitive (no deals.) Pet food is a different story, it’s clearly the thrust of the business (and why Dave is on Rock 102 occasionally as a guest in the morning.) There were a lot of varieties, many I’d never seen before. One aisle (maybe half the length of a supermarket aisle) sparsely filled with product. After visiting this location I guess I can look back at my initial reaction in hindsight favorably. I understand they both ‘warehouse’ reasonably well but it still seemed strange. I don’t know Dave personally but I like the guy all the same (mostly from his appearances on Rock 102.) When I first heard of this franchise years (decades?) ago I thought how strange soda and pet food were together. Zazu looks forward to many more cranky grooming sessions in the future. Now I can just drive down the street from my home and pick him up an hour or so later. «Right here at Dave’s,» I was happy to say. People actually stopped me in the store as I was going to pay and asked me where I got him groomed. This is one of the best cuts he’s ever had, and he is not traumatized by the experience.
Jessie had to pitch in and assist as, even though he is only five pounds, it is difficult to get him to keep still. Shannon takes it all in stride and manages to give him a beautiful cut. Given the cited instances of hitting and the prosecution of some other groomer in the area, I was very afraid to trust him to a groomer. I call him the Tasmanian devil when it comes to any grooming activities. My dog is twelve-years-old and very cranky when it comes to grooming. I am so happy to have found a good groomer in the Springfield area. Dave’s has build a lovely grooming section with a window in their Springfield store. BUT, they are now offering grooming services, and these girls are awesome. I usually buy my food at the Dave’s in Hadley or at Browns in East Longmeadow. I often find they are out of the food I need anyway.
Okay, so I still stand by the understaffed rude people at Dave’s.
